Clarion Call II: Societal Ills
As inked by EK TiGER
If you don’t love me for who I am
Then you’re not good enough for me”.
This quote misled so many souls
Who could had worked on improving their characters
Rather than looking for those
That would love the filthy them.
Offerings and tithe
Are not the fees paid to attain salvation.
But which of the pulpit men
Dares to clear the misconception?
We live in a society
Where a dream is fashioned
So as to design the dimness of another’s vision.
We seem not to understand the scriptures anymore
We keep waiting for one to fall
Before we rise,
But come sunrise come moonlight
We live by the offerings of the widow’s mite
Because we didn’t get the scriptures right.
We cease to ask ourselves
If we’d be found wanting
When the labour of our hands are to be blessed
Because all we do is possessing our possession
As our day to day confession;
Forgetting fully well
That faith and works should be next
After morning devotion.
What have we done to our beautiful selves
We couldn’t acknowledge ourselves
As an orchard of talents
Thus making ourselves a tree in the garden of losers.
When I journeyed to the grave
I saw beautiful sight not for beholding,
For I saw several glory tales
That were not read
Several destinies that were not fulfilled
Yet several underachievers attained legendary status.
