Kissing the hands of life
I was taken away by the hands of death.
How does it feel,
When those who promised to feel my pain
Added my name to the billboard of shame?
How does it feel
To desire a conjugal bliss with properties
Only to realize
I’m tied in holy matrimony to poverty?
How does it feel,
To have success appear to be an enigma
While failure is my stigma?
Contemporaries works out
To show off six packs,
While I work day in day out
To showcase my rib packs.
The sickle cells are flowing,
Everyday I’m sicker.
Shoes got holes for lace,
I’ve got holes in my sole.
Then sings my soul
How does it feel,
When the beatitudes of life
Can’t be my stigma
But I dance to the enchanting ballet of penury
